So here we are with a detailed guide to help you with the process.
In this step by step guide, we will show you how you can upgrade from Windows 7 or older versions of Windows to Windows 8 Pro without losing any of your personal files and settings. However, as there is a lot of confusion regarding the upgrade, I would suggest you first read our Windows 8 upgrade FAQ and also do a bit of your own research if you got certain lingering questions in your mind about the process. Once you are sure that you want to upgrade, you start following the steps below.
Before We Start
In this process we will be downloading Windows 8 Pro while installing it. Thus make sure you have a seamless internet connectivity throughout the process.
If you are installing the upgrade on a desktop, make sure you have uninterrupted power supply.
Make sure you close all the memory hogging applications before you run the upgrade. Trust me, it’s a wise idea to do that.
Let’s Begin…
Step 1: We will be using Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant which you need to download first. After downloading the tool, run it with admin privileges. Once the program initiates, it will check the compatibility of your computer which might take a minute or two.
